Dr. Derek Cody is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in artful aesthetic surgery and advanced microsurgery. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He completed a microsurgery fellowship in New York and was recruited to southern California, where he established a successful practice for the better part of a decade.
Dr. Cody’s guiding principle in plastic surgery is to listen first. In this way he is able to individualize care to the exact needs of his patients. This is one of many important attributes Dr. Cody brings to his patients in Northeast Ohio and across the country as a member of Crystal Clinic Plastic Surgeons. His extensive training and clinical experience spanning both coasts allows him to bring a unique perspective home to Northeast Ohio. Dr. Cody is active in research as well as medical student and resident education. He also frequently volunteers his time for medical outreach. Dr. Cody has traveled to South America, Haiti and Africa, where he has provided essential plastic surgery care to patients in need and exchanged ideas and techniques with local physicians and surgeons. When not restoring lives, Dr. Cody can be found restoring and building high-performance muscle cars with his twin brother or staying fit in the gym.
Dr. Cody has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, including presentations at regional and national meetings. He is a delegate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association and Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons.
