Salvatore Frangiamore, M.D., M.S.
Bio
Dr. Salvatore Frangiamore is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center specializing in the nonoperative and operative treatment of shoulder and rotator cuff injuries as well as sports-related conditions. He has a special interest in minimally invasive, joint-preserving shoulder surgery, rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, and shoulder replacement surgery. He frequently sees patients seeking expert second opinions for complex shoulder conditions, including large rotator cuff tears and shoulder instability.
In addition to offering specialized shoulder care, Dr. Frangiamore provides expert knee care for complex soft-tissue and sports-related injuries, including minimally invasive knee repair and reconstruction, complex knee arthroscopy, and ligament and meniscus repair. He also offers focused joint preservation techniques for the knee, including cartilage restoration procedures.
Serving patients with shoulder pain and rotator cuff injuries throughout Northeast Ohio, Dr. Frangiamore sees patients in Ashtabula, Independence, and Solon.
A native of Northeast Ohio, he completed his orthopaedic surgical training at the Cleveland Clinic and pursued advanced fellowship training at the world-renowned Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado, where he refined his expertise in advanced arthroscopic and reconstructive techniques for complex shoulder and rotator cuff injuries, knee injuries, and sports-related conditions. During this time, Dr. Frangiamore cared for professional athletes from the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, ATP/WTA, PGA, and U.S. Olympic teams in addition to treating collegiate, high school, and recreational athletes. He traveled internationally serving as an event physician for the U.S. Men’s & Women’s Ski and Snowboard teams. In his career, he has served as a team physician for the Cleveland Guardians professional baseball organization, the Premier Lacrosse League, and the medical team for the Burton U.S. Open of Snowboarding. Given Dr. Frangiamore’s specialized training and extensive experience in shoulder and sports medicine as well as knee care, he offers a comprehensive range of surgical and nonsurgical treatment options when conservative care has not provided relief.
Dr. Frangiamore has written numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and surgical technique guides related to his extensive research focusing on baseball and upper extremity injuries, including rotator cuff and shoulder conditions. His work earned him several accolades and awards, including the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Neer Award, considered the highest honor in shoulder and elbow research. He has traveled throughout the United States and internationally to present his work. Through the use of advanced open and arthroscopic shoulder techniques, Dr. Frangiamore focuses on restoring damaged joints, ligaments, and bones using minimally invasive procedures to help patients return to active, healthy lives.
Active in several professional societies, Dr. Frangiamore was selected as a candidate member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) and has served as a board member of the Ohio Orthopaedic Society (OOS). He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM).
Dr. Frangiamore and his wife, Meghan, are natives of Northeast Ohio and currently reside in Solon along with their children, Sam, Owen, and Mia. When not spending time with his family, he enjoys skiing, bocce, outdoor activities, exercise, and playing golf.
