TELEHEALTH FAQS

Have questions? Find the answers in these Frequently Asked Questions about telehealth at Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center.

What is telehealth? Telehealth is a modern way to conduct a non-emergency doctor visit through the use of digital communication methods. It’s a video conference between you and your Crystal Clinic specialist that allows you to visit your provider for non-emergency care from virtually anywhere.

How popular is telehealth? In 2013, there were 350,000 people using telehealth. In 2018, that number had grown to more than 7 million patients. Today, with the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic, the vital role of telehealth is apparent and usage is now growing exponentially.

Telehealth is appropriate for what conditions? Crystal Clinic telehealth is designed for non-emergency care for virtually any and all orthopaedic conditions. Our orthopaedic specialists can diagnose your symptoms, develop a care plan for your condition, prescribe medication if needed, schedule a procedure, and provide follow up care, including physical therapy, occupational therapy and hand therapy.

Telehealth is also effective for Plastics and Reconstruction care, especially initial consultation and follow up care. Your Plastics and Reconstruction clinical expert may also schedule in-clinic procedures and prescribe medications as appropriate.

If you are experiencing an orthopaedic emergency, please visit a Crystal Clinic QuickCare location for walk-in, immediate care for orthopaedic injuries. For more information, visit CrystalQuickCare.com. If your medical condition is more severe or is life threatening, call 911.

Will my visit be safe and private? Yes. Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center telehealth care is compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and will only share your information with your selected provider and pharmacy, if required. As with an in-person visit, you may interact with other Crystal Clinic clinical staff as appropriate during your visit.

Who are the telehealth doctors and specialists? With the telehealth system at Crystal Clinic, you get remote access to our nationally-renowned orthopaedic care. Your telehealth visits are conducted by the same, world-class Crystal Clinic specialists you would see in person at any of our clinics.
