Innovative Treatment Options
Our physical therapy staff are trained in the following:
Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy is a form of physical therapy that uses the unique advantages of exercising in the water to reach your rehabilitation goals. The buoyancy of water enables anyone who has a physical limitation to perform exercise in a weight reduced environment. It is an option for anyone with limited weight bearing status, chronic pain or a history of balance issues/falling.
Biomechanical Movement Assessments
Our clinicians can provide a thorough biomechanical analysis to determine movement patterns that may limit your function. This analysis will provide you and your therapists with a framework to address any muscular imbalances, flexibility restrictions, strength deficits, joint impairments, or neuromuscular deficits.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a technique that specially trained physical and occupational therapists can use in conjunction with other therapeutic interventions to treat muscle tension and spasms caused by a wide range of conditions such as arthritis, muscle or ligament strains, headaches, and nerve irritation. It is called “dry needling” because needles pierce the skin without injecting any kind of solution. While the needles used in dry needling are comparable to the ones used in acupuncture that is where the similarities end. Dry needling is based on Western, science-based principles and not traditional Eastern medicine philosophies.
Functional-Based Exercises
Current research has shown the importance of improving the quality of movement to recover from current injury and prevent reoccurrence. Your physical therapy team will design a functional exercise program that will allow you to get back the things you love and need to do.
Functional Capacity Evaluation
A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) provides a comprehensive assessment of an injured worker’s ability to perform certain job tasks after becoming injured or developing a limiting health condition. Employers can request this evaluation to screen employees for specific work related tasks, identify workplace modifications, and if appropriate, determine the extent of the employee’s disability. It can be utilized to guide work conditioning and return-to-work rehab, job-place modifications, and screening for movement dysfunctions.
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy techniques are skilled passive movements of joints and soft tissue that improve flexibility, increase range of motion, promote relaxation, reduce pain, and reduce soft tissue swelling or restriction.
Vestibular Rehab
Specialty-trained therapists at Crystal Clinic can provide treatment for conditions that result in dizziness, balance deficits, and vision disorders.
