Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center is pleased to announce that orthopaedic surgeon Ryan Urchek, MD, has been named a team physician at the University of Akron. He replaces Crystal Clinic physician Tim Myer, MD, who has retired, and will join colleague Raymond Acus, MD, in support of the university’s athletic programs.

Crystal Clinic Surgeon Offers New Option for Correcting Bunions MICA technique offers quicker recovery, less pain 

Thanks to a new surgical tool that’s recently become available in the United States, people who have bunions now have another option for correcting them. The Minimally Invasive Chevron Akin (MICA) technique uses a specially designed high-speed cutting instrument that allows surgeons, like Crystal Clinic’s Dr. David Kay, to make smaller incisions than what was previously possible.

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center surgeon Curtis Noel, M.D. was a member of the Exactech design team that developed the Equinoxe® Stemless Shoulder, a state-of-the-art bone conserving and canal sparing prosthesis that is compatible with the Equinoxe® Shoulder System.  Exactech, a leading developer and producer of bone and joint restoration products and biologic solutions for extremities, knee and hip, has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market the Equinoxe® Stemless Shoulder.

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center to build new hospital facility

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center, a physician-owned, major orthopaedic specialty hospital located in Northeast Ohio, today announced plans to construct a new specialty orthopaedic facility on Embassy Parkway in Fairlawn, Ohio. The new 60-bed state-of-the-art hospital facility will transform patient care and is expected to open in mid-2020.

LeBron James Family Foundation Partnership

The LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF) and Northeast Ohio’s Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center have partnered to provide all active I PROMISE students and families convenient access to critical orthopaedic and healthcare services as well as other resources throughout the year. As part of the partnership, Crystal Clinic’s staff will provide monthly healthcare clinics and critical preventative education for all I PROMISE families, annual student-athlete physicals and expedited access to primary care for I Promise School students, and athletic trainers for all LJFF-sanctioned sporting events. Additionally, Crystal Clinic will host LJFF’s 10th grade experience outing exposing students to career opportunities in the medical field.

Crystal Clinic QuickCare to offer extended hours

The Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center announces that QuickCare, its rapid care facility which serves those with orthopaedic injuries and chronic musculo-skeletal injuries, now offers extended hours at both its locations in Montrose at 3975 Embassy Parkway, Ste. 003, in Akron and 1622 East Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Suite 201, in Green. The rapid care facility is now open 10am – 9pm Monday through Friday and from 8am – 2pm Saturdays.
