Orthopaedic Oncology

The Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center and Summa Health System have one of only seven board-certified orthopaedic oncologists practicing in the state of Ohio. As one of the few referral sources in the state, Scott D. Weiner, M.D. sees patients from an area that encompasses northern Ohio, western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia.

As an orthopaedic oncologist, Dr. Weiner specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of primary benign and malignant tumors of the bones.

Dr. Weiner treats metastatic cancer (usually in the elderly), bone sarcomas (mostly in children, adolescents and young adults), spine tumors and benign tumors (across all age groups).

Care is coordinated with the Jean B. and Milton N. Cooper Cancer Center at Summa Akron City Hospital, so patients have access to good treatment option plans. In addition, Summa Health System has well-regarded hospice and palliative care programs.

Patients have immediate access at the Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center and Summa Health System. They receive personalized care from their physicians and the entire case team. The goal of the team is to help the patient survive his or her cancer and be as functional as possible.
